Utter Devastation in Haiti

Experts are estimating death tolls of up to 500,000 after the massive earthquake (7.0 on the Richter scale) that rocked Haiti yesterday.  Over at First Things, The Anchoress has a must-read post, in which she chronicles the latest details and provides links for those wishing to help the rescue and recovery effort by means of charitable donations.  She also notes that the second Psalm in today's Divine Office couldn't be more on-point:
The earth moved and shook,
at the coming of his anger the roots of the mountains rocked
and were shaken…but the Lord was my support.
He led me to the open spaces,
he was my deliverance, for he held me in favour.
The people of Haiti need our prayers.  Let's lift them up.
